The offshore wind farm HKW VII consists of 53 turbines rated at 15 MW each, founded on monopiles without transition pieces (TP-less). The monopiles have a diameter of 7.50 m at the tower interface and 8.60 m at the seabed, with a maximum length of 91 m and a weight just under 1,600 t. The secondary steel—comprising the boat landing, main access platform, and internal cassette—is installed offshore in a separate campaign following successful monopile installation.
JBO delivered the basic and detailed design of the substructure (monopile plus transition piece), including permit planning, flange and grouted connection design, planning of all secondary steel elements (boat landing, resting platform, J-tubes, cable and work platforms), preparation of technical specifications, ice and collision analyses, weight control, and fatigue assessment of the piles after driving.
